From the February 2017 “Heritage Happenings” newsletter: with appreciation to the donors, we announce the following gifts:
- Lakeside Association: scrapbook created by Mrs. Arthur (Ida) Jones with newspaper clippings & auditorium programs for 1925-1946;
- Rev. Janet Cromwell (Los Angeles, CA): 1942 Lakeside pamphlets/articles and signed letter & photo from Governor John Bricker collected by her father, Oliver Cromwell;
- Jane Feissinger: binder of print items and photos documenting activities and cottage ownership of Salvation Army staff & families at Lakeside 1892 to 2009;
- Ottawa County Historical Society: book History of Ottawa County: The First 175 Years by Patrick L. O’Keeffe, published 2016, includes numerous photographs from the LHS archives.
In addition to these gifts, the LHS Archives wishes to extend a special “thank you” to David Glick who has submitted documentation of numerous newspaper clippings with his comments from weekly 1934 and 1935 issues of the Peninsula News and to Eileen Howell who continues to document hundreds of historic and current obituaries from Lakeside and Peninsula residents in the LHS archives electronic obituary database.
